Joy, The Supervisor, is a rescue that Sherita brought with her from California. She earned her title, by literally over-seeing all the Barnyard Crew. She runs the homestead!
This handsome boy, Boots (Bootsy) the rooster, is the Alpha of the feathered crew, and named after the famed, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, Bootsy Collins.
General Ali has a look of dominance, and will definitely protect the Barnyard, but on the other hand, he's extremely playful and loving to the rest of the homestead crew.
The Barnyard is a project under the Philanthropy Alliance Foundation, located on nearly 30 acres in Hattieville, AR.
Our Founder, Sherita J. Herring, moved to the Natural State in 2017 after living in Los Angeles, CA, for nearly 30 years. She is excited to revive her ancestral land that sat dormant since her great-grandfather transitioned in 1975.
With a barnyard crew of more than 40 chickens, four ducks, two goats, two cats, a guinea, and five dogs (horses coming soon), the homestead offers Camping and Art programs while also hosting various Community and Private Events as guests enjoy a free-range petting zoo experience.
As an entrepreneur since 1994, Sherita is utilizing her business strategies and economic development efforts to help others reconnect to nature in the Barnyard through future Executive and Women’s Retreats, Artist Forums, Wellness Conferences, and more, including Grant Writing Workshops in the wild.
Meet our curious feathered girl, Ms. Kravitz, named after the famed nosy neighbor on the nostalgic television series, Bewitched, that aired from the mid 1960s to early 1970s. This inquisitive little lady is a comical joy for the Barnyard guests.
Meet Serena, the namesake of the Greatest Of All Time (G.O.A.T.), tennis star, Serena Williams.
Meet Hallie Kitty, named after the renowned Hallie Berry, based on her role as Cat Women in Batman.
Meet Simone, the namesake of the Greatest Of All Time (G.O.A.T.), gymnast, Simone Biles.
